On June 6, 2013, Asif Rehmani, SharePoint MVP, MCT and President of Rehmani Consulting, Inc. (publishers of the SharePoint-Videos dot com website) participated in a webinar, 5 Steps to Drive Sustainable SharePoint Adoption with Dux Raymond Sy, another SharePoint MVP.
This webinar makes the case for 5 steps, which ought to be mandatory changes for any IT organization to effect, if the organization has, as an objective, to deliver a substantial return on an investment represented by the implementation of SharePoint computing infrastructure across an enterprise.
As we have written elsewhere in this blog, and as Microsoft® notes, when end users “adopt” a computing platform, they consciously decide to replace an alternate method of completing the same task with a new technology. In our case, the new technology is SharePoint.
But end users cannot successfully complete daily tasks with a new technology they know little about and haven’t mastered. So training is a prerequisite. The seminar Asif and Dux presented spotlighted two software tools: the “Sustainable SharePoint Adoption Foundation” and VisualSP™.
Both of these tools provide a powerful method of delivering training content of any type (video tutorials, documents, slide presentations, etc) to end users working with SharePoint to help them successfully achieve their objectives. The power of the method amounts to three very important features:
- the training content is made available to end users directly within a SharePoint computing environment from the SharePoint Ribbon
- and the training content is entirely specific to the task at hand
- finally, the training content can be used over and over again, whenever required, until the technique is mastered
Our conversations with our customers who have purchased VisualSP™ provide us with substantial indication of the unique value of our approach. Clearly, directly addressing the need to train users to change computing behaviors with a solution like ours makes sense.
If your organization would like to explore an alternative method of convincing your end users to change old computing habits and adopt new methods built on SharePoint, please let us know. You can contact us by telephone at +1 630786-7026. Alternatively, you can send us a message.
