SharePoint-Videos offers several sets of video training content on key components of an Enterprise Content Management (ECM) or Document Management (DM) application for SharePoint 2007, 2010, and 2013. These sets include:
- SharePoint 2013: Enterprise Forms
- SharePoint 2013: Records Management
- SharePoint 2013: Managed Metadata and Content Management
- SharePoint 2013: Search
- SharePoint 2010: Taxonomy
- SharePoint 2010: Search
- SharePoint 2007: InfoPath

AIIM’s annual SharePoint survey for 2013, titled SharePoint 2013 – clouding the issues, which was published in December, 2013, points out a high level of interest in ECM, and DM applications for SharePoint on the part of larger organizations (with 500 – 5,000 employees).
Over 40% of respondents from these larger organizations reported SharePoint implementations in place, for more than 5 years, for ECM or DM purposes. Another 22% reported more than 2 years continuous use of SharePoint for this purpose. Over 10% reported ongoing efforts to craft an ECM or DM solution with SharePoint, with another 8%, or more, attesting to plans, in place, to use SharePoint for this type of purpose. Only an approximate 5% percent of respondents from larger organizations expressed no interest in using SharePoint for one of these purposes.
When these statistics are put together with another important set included in the AIIM survey, this one on the likelihood of a move off premises to a cloud version of SharePoint, for a survey respondent, it is clear our training sets should not only make sense for most larger organizations, but, even more, represent a method of hastening user adoption of these platforms when our VisualSP™ help system for SharePoint is used to deliver the content directly to users within a SharePoint computing context.
If readers can look at the AIIM survey results as truly reliable information, then it will likely make sense to include a user training component in any plan for a larger organization to implement SharePoint 2013 for an ECM, or DM purpose. The survey notes comparatively higher levels of adoption, for SharePoint, by end users as compared to respective levels for other competitive applications: “Certainly, adoption across the “enterprise” has been much stronger for SharePoint then for other products and usage across multiple “content”-types is broader than for many traditional imaging or document systems” (Quoted from the AIIM Survey. A link is available, above, to all of the content in the survey).
